The contracts for the supply and the long-term maintenance of the main equipment for the 840 MW gas-fired Combined Cycle Unit in Alexandroupolis were signed between the company of Copelouzos Group, Damco Energy S.A., and General Electric.
Ilektroparagogi Alexandroupolis S.A., a 100% subsidiary of Copelouzos Group, is the SPV for the implementation of the investment, the construction of which will start within this year and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
The project is going to strengthen the local economy, both during its construction phase as well as throughout its operation. During the construction 600 people are going to be employed, while it is estimated that 90 permanent job positions will be created during the whole lifetime of the project.
In addition, and in conjunction the other projects of Copelouzos Group, the unit will make the area of Alexandroupolis an energy hub, a fact that will attract further investments and result in economic growth and prosperity of the greater area.
